Australia has some of the most beautiful flora and fauna on earth and the Bing Australia homepage has been showing it off for some time now with the daily background pictures.  Recently they released their third Windows 7 theme to show off some of their better and more popular photos.

“This free theme for Windows 7 features more stunning and unexpected images of Australia from Bing, including lightning cracking in a cloud-filled sky over Kakadu National Park, the first rays of sun pouring through a cloud formation over eastern Sydney, and dawn reflections on a calm fresh water lake in Tasmania.”

The Windows 7 themes in the Personalization Gallery are compatible with Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate editions.

Microsoft Releases 5 New User Submitted Windows 7 Themes

Last Updated on Saturday, 21 April 2012 08:49 Written by Alan Friday, 27 April 2012 07:00

Last year Microsoft announced a program that allows users to submit their own photos to be turned into Windows 7 themes and recently they released five more themes based on those submissions.  They then began releasing those themes to all users a while back.  Now, they have released five more themes that were created based on user submitted photos.

Two of the new themes are dynamic, as Microsoft has been moving in the direction of auto-updating themes recently, a trend we expect to continue in Windows 8, which has already received it’s first official theme.

The five new themes were created exclusively from user submissions and the two dynamic ones will be updated on a regular basis with new user submitted photos.  There is still time to submit your own photos if you would like to participate.

Here are the five new themes that Microsoft has released.

Bing Desktop for Windows 7 Launches

Just last week Microsoft launched Bing Search for Windows to bring both search features and an ever-changing wallpaper collection to your Windows 7 computer.  Now Microsoft has gone one better ad released Bing Desktop which minimizes the search app and brings the spectacular wallpaper attained from the Bing “daily picture” to your PC as a wallpaper.

The Bing daily background photos have evolved over time from static images to mapped images to the occasional video.  Now Microsoft has provided a way to get those daily images as your wallpaper, and have it update every day in RSS fashion.  According to the Bing team, “ Over the years, many of you have requested a simple way to enjoy these images as your Windows desktop background. With today’s release of Bing Desktop, we’re introducing an easy way to do just that.”

This isn’t actually much different, although it downplays the app and instead provides a search bar in the middle of the screen.  You can get it by following the link to download Bing Desktop.  It will change your desktop background daily to keep it both fresh and in-sync with the Bing web site.
