If you simply need to scan something, eithee picture or text or a combination, and don’t need to do any fancy editing then Windows 7 makes it very simple.
1. Click Start, then Devices and Printers and locate your scanner.

2. Right-click the scanner and choose Start Scan.

3. The window that pops up gives you several options for your scan – Profile let’s you choose between photos, documents and custom, Color Format gives options of color, greyscale and black and white, and Resolution.

4. Under the Profile option you can choose to Add Profile. The default resolution for both pictures and documents is 300DPI and since many people may want to use different resolutions I’d recommend setting your own Profiles for documents and pictures.

That’s it. Plain and simple scanning. Now that’s it’s on your PC you can do any fancy editing you want by opening your photo editor and OCR program of choice.
