matcha Matcha Brings You an Online TV and Movie Guide

Matcha is an online guide that features the latest movies to the hottest TV shows and offers better movie choices for all avid movie fans out there.  What Matcha basically does is that it links your video subscriptions from such services as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and others to recommend you video clips that you will hopefully enjoy.  It also comes with an activity feed which allows you to receive updates on the latest and newest episodes of your subscriptions.

With Matcha, you can also just use your Twitter or Facebook account instead of having to sign up for a separate account.  To sum up, Matcha definitely lives up to its guide aspect since it really offers more accurate video suggestions than a lot of longer running movie and TV guide sites out there.

Features:

  • Free to use
  • Link your Facebook/Twitter
  • Movie guide and reviews
  • Movie and video syncing
  • Accurate recommendations

You can visit them at Matcha.tv.

A 3-D Journey Through the Observable Universe (Video)

Last Updated on Sunday, 22 April 2012 06:32 Written by Alan Sunday, 22 April 2012 06:32

Sunday’s tend to be slow news days in the tech world, but the universe doesn’t stand still.  To that end, one of our favorite space blogs, Daily Galaxy, posted up a great video that gives a 3-D tour of the observable universe.  The video shows what is known through astronomical onservations and was produced by the American Museum of Natural History.

The video starts off rising above the earth over the beautiful mountains of Tibet and pans outward past the orbits of the moon and the planets.  Continuing through the close-by galaxies that have been mapped by mankind, past quasars, light from the early universe, and finally heads to back our present time and position in the grand cosmos.

It’s an awe-inspiring and humbling six minute trip that I advise everyone who reads this to take.  While it doesn’t go into detail on many of the objects and locations that are passed by, it still gives a sense of vastness that will leave you feeling even smaller in our current little corner of the universe as we know it.

“Welcome to Office 15″ Video Surfaces

Information has been slowly creeping out regarding Office 15, the next version of Office, which is expected later this year or early in 2013.  Recently a load of new screenshots were published by Paul Thurrott, but today his book writing partner Rafael Rivera published a video on his WithinWindows blog.

Rafael gave no information along with the video post, but placed a disclaimer on the YouTube page.  ”NOTE: This video was pulled from beta software and may not be representative of the final product.”  Rafael didn’t “create” the video, but when I contacted him he stated that “The video was pulled out of the Technical Preview bits intact; owned/created by Microsoft.”

The video doesn’t show Office 15, but is more of a concept advertisement.  It hints at the cloud storage ability that will be built into the next-generation version of Office, likely based on SkyDrive.  The video kicks off by stating that “It goes, wherever you go”.

Office 15 is currently available in private beta to a few hand-picked users.  A public beta is expected sometime this summer and a final release is expected sometime around the release of Windows 8 in the fall of 2012, although there are rumors that Office 15 (not necessarily it’s final name) could slip into early 2013.
