Borders Offers Kobo eReader For $99

National bookstore chain Borders is now offering the Kobo eReader for only $99.99 and free shipping. The sale is from now through January 17, 2011 and is both online and in-store. To purchase online there is no coupon code needed, but for in-store purchase you will need to print this coupon to present to the cashier at purchase. The Kobo eReader usually sells for $139.99.
The Kobo eReader is, of course, a direct competitor of Amazon’s Kindle which is $139.99 for the WiFi only version. The Kobo is also WiFi only and will sync with a eReader app on your iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, or Android. The device measure 184mm x 120mm, which is just slightly smaller than the Kindle. It can hold up to 1000 books and has an SD card slot that allows it to be expanded by up to 32 GB and has a reported battery life of 10 days or 10,000 page-turns.

GooReader is a free program for Windows that allows you to download, search, and read the books and magazines available in Google Books.
Right now it is Windows only (XP, Vista, 7) but the plan to make it available for Mac, as well as smart phones.
Aside from a beautiful interface (much better than that of Google Books) the real big selling point for this is simply being able to download the books to you PC. Now you never have to go searching for the book online again and you can browse it while traveling, when you may be out out WiFi range. Books and magazines save in PDF format.
You can search by author or title. Once you have found the book you want then you can just click the Create PDF button.
It’s a simple, elegant solution for have any book or magazine available on your PC. And, withe the PDF format you can also transfer it to many eBook readers, such as the Kindle.
