About the Site Owner/Editor
I thought about writing this part in the third-person, but (1) it felt silly, and (2) that’s what a lot of blogs do in order to sound more professional than they really are. So…I will just tell you a bit about myself in my own “voice”. The best place to begin would be with my name – Alan Buckingham. I live in Maryland and have been happily married for 17 years. We have two children – 1 daughter and 1 son. I am a technology hound – I love computers, networking, gadgets, home theater, and all such techie things. I run Windows 7 on all of my computers; I actually have fun administering my home network, and especially love my home-built Media Center PC. I use a Zune, a Canon digital camera, and a Droid X phone. My home server runs FreeNAS. But Windows is my number one interest.
When I am not playing with cool technology then I can be found hiking, running, mountain biking, working on our 150 year old Victorian home, or working in my yard and garden.
I started this website because I wanted an outlet for my habit/hobby, because I wanted a chance to review and play with the latest technology, and because making a few extra dollars when you have two kids and a wife who is a stay-at-home mom doesn’t hurt. That may separate me from other bloggers – I admit that I need to earn a living. That’s why almost all blogs have ads – everyone needs to put food on the table. I don’t ask people to click ads and I don’t care if you use an ad-blocker, but I also want to be up front about why ads are here and tell you that most of the sites you love wouldn’t exist without thos ads.
My goals include being the best father and husband I can be, traveling to Machu Pichu, through-hiking the Appalachian Trail, and making this web site your number one stop for technology news, reviews, and how-to’s.
