We have long suspected that Microsoft would release their next-generation operating system, Windows 8, in the latter part of 2012, but we now have a bit more confirmation for those suspicions. A Fujitsu roadmap for this year leaked and found it’s way onto an Italian tech web site and it show that Windows 8 is scheduled for “Q4 2012″. There currently isn’t any confirmation from Microsoft on this, but it’s likely at this point that hardware makers are privy to such information so that they can begin to prepare their devices.
There are several other things to be learned from the Fujitsu leak. For instance, they will be introducing a new Android tablet in June and and all-in-one touchscreen desktop PC in the fourth quarter of this year. The touchscreen desktop is likely scheduled to coincide with the release of Windows 8 and it’s all new touch-friendly interface.
In just a couple of weeks Microsoft will introduce the Windows 8 public beta, known as the “Consumer Preview”, which will become available for download on February 29th. Microsoft will make the official announcement of this in Barcelona, Spain at the Mobile World Conference show. Currently many users worldwide are running the Windows 8 Developer Preview which became available several months ago.
