Windows 8 on a Kupa X11 Tablet Coming to CES

Windows 8 will be coming to CES 2012 next week in a big way. CEO Steve Ballmer will be showing off the Windows 8 Beta during his keynote address and several hardware makers will showing off their wares, but one little known tablet maker, Kupa, will actually have a tablet running the Windows 8 Developer Preview. The tablet is called X11 and it’s actually already available.
The Kupa X11 is currently available in three models, the Classic with 64GB WiFi, Pro with 64 GB WiFi/3G, and Lux with 128 GB WiFi/3G. They range in price from$699 to $969 and all of them run Windows 7 Professional. Other specs that all three have in common include:
- Innovative Pen + Touch Control
- Write and draw with stylus like a real pen
- 10″ Multi-touch LED screen with 1366 x 768 resolution
- 10 Hours Battery Life – best in class
- Fingerprint Scanner
- Windows 7 Professional
But what all of this is really about is showing that the Kupa X11 is completely ready to run Windows 8 when it’s deployed later this year, or even next month when Microsoft rolls out the first public Beta of the new OS.
There is little doubt why Kupa will be showing Windows 8 on their X11 tablet – it will be a big selling point for the hardware. The tablet, which currently runs Windows 7 Professional , is apparently geared towards business users and those folks want long-term updatability. Of course this also just makes good marketing sense, because Windows 8 is on the minds of a lot of users these days and will be even more so after CES.
