Handyscan for Windows Phone Scans Right to SkyDrive, Dropbox

Just the other day we told you about the new SkyDrive API’s for Windows Phone and Windows 8. Now, the very first Windows Phone app to take advantage of the new SkyDrive API has been released. The app is called Handyscan and, like the name implies, it turns your Windows Phone handset into a scanner. Turns out that having a scanner in your pocket wherever you go is a pretty good thing, or “handy” as the name implies.
Handycam uses your phone’s camera as a scanner for documents or whatever you choose to put in front of it. After scanning, you can save the file locally or upload it to SkyDrive or Dropbox. There is a free version and a $2.99 paid version. Both offer such features as the ability scan any document or object, independent scanning resolution and flash options, zoom in and out of your scans, align and crop your scanned documents, save multiple scans as a single file, import and export photos, scan/digitalize signatures, and backup your scans to the cloud (SkyDrive and Dropbox).
In addition, the paid version lets you convert scanned files to PDF, email files, and restore backups. Those three could prove useful, but you can always do all three from your computer when you get back home, but then again, $2.99 isn’t exactly a steep price to pay to add them in to the Windows Phone app. You can find Handyscan available in the Windows Phone Marketplace.
