Today Evernote released version 2.1 of their app for Windows Phone.  The release adds several new features to the already useful app.  Evernote had become a mobile favorite on Android and iOS long before launching on Windows Phone.  It’s a great way to make notes, lists, capture audio and pictures, and share all of it across multiple platforms.  Aside from mobile, Evernote is also available on computers from the web app or a desktop app.

Evernote has added pinning to the home screen.  “Go to Evernote Settings > General > Pin to Start Page. Here you can choose to pin specific new note options, such as a new text note, snapshot note and new audio note. Tapping these options from the home screen will launch into the note.”  You can also pin already saved items by tapping a pin button at the bottom of each item you have saved.  Now whatever you pinned is available right from the home screen with one-click access.

You can also now create a template.  If you create a lot of the same type of notes then enter the basic outline and save it as a template so that never have to add that information again when you create another note.  “You can create simple text-only templates, or you can make templates that simplify a complex workflow. For example, you can make a template that launches the camera and then attaches the snapshot to a note that contains some pre-filled text—great for capturing business cards and making expense reports.”

Evernote has also improved the text editing capabilities of plain text notes and added more language support with the addition of Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Dutch, and Polish.  There is also now background syncing via WiFi, even when the phone is locked, integration of your saved notes in Windows Phone search, and note sharing with Facebook, Twitter, and Windows Live.

Evernote 2.1 is available free from the Windows Phone Marketplace.  You can read more over at the Evernote blog.
