The Chrome Browser may be Coming to Android

While Google has consistently given the impression that Chrome and Android are two separate entities that will never meet, it seems they may be preparing to add the Chrome Browser to Android. A recent code insertion uncovered over at the Chromium site shows that Revision 102807 is for “Upstream: Set build target and environment for Android”.
This doesn’t mean we will ever see the Chrome browser running on Android, but it’s a step towards that reality. Currently Android comes with a rather nondescript program that is simply labeled “Browser”. While it works okay, many users opt to run Firefox on their devices and many lament the absence of Google’s own flagship web browser on their own mobile OS.
The code was noticed by the folks over at Conceivably Tech who uncovered a lot more information that lead them to believe that the introduction of Chrome to Android is not only a possibility, but likely, and probably coming sooner rather than later. They stress, though, that Chrome will only be an app in Android and not the OS-like entity it has become on the desktop. They even predict, albeit with no source listed, that the first version will hit the market in October, as in anytime now.
