My favorite internet music-streaming app, Pandora, made some big announcements today – an HTML5 version and unlimited free streaming.  The changes amount to a sleek new interface, which is compatible with all modern major browsers and mobile operating systems.  It’s been a slow, gradual roll-out, but today these feature are finally available to all users.

The most important part of this announcement, to the average user,  is the free unlimited listening.  Previously, Pandora offered 40 hours per month for free accounts.  That’s a lot, but many people still had a problem with it (for instance the work-at-home, always listening to music types…just sayin’).  Of course, free still means ads, but that’s a small price to pay for this.

In addition to HTML5 and the new free plan, you will find better music controls and social aspect that allows you to “share” music via Facebook, Twitter, and Email.  That should attract a whole new set of users.

Sure, there’s ads in the free service,  What did you expect?!  They have bills and overhead and wouldn’t exist without a profit.  But, the new features of Pandora are just plain HOT!  They have taken an already stellar streaming app and improved on it.There are nothing but wins for the service and the users in this update.
