If you run any type of website then you know that load-time is a huge deal. Studies have shown that many users will give up and move on if site takes to long to load in their browser. If you aren’t running your own site, you may still be curious what is slowing down a site you visit. Either way, there’s a simple Firefox plugin that can answer this question.
“YSlow analyzes web pages and suggests ways to improve their performance based on a set of rules for high performance web pages.” That sums up the extension quite well. Once you have installed it, you can use it to analyze any page. It has a large number of reports and analysis available and it even offers suggestions of ways that you can improve them. It can bye run from a tiny iconat the bottom right of Firefox.
YSlow is compatible with Firefox version 3.0 through 6. You can download it from the Mozilla Addons page.
