Windows 8 Build 7989 Hits Bittorrent

A couple of days ago we brought you news about the latest screenshots of Windows 8, which come from build 7989. At the time. we speculated about when it would leak to the torrents – well, it didn’t take long. The new leak is 64-bit Windows 8 M3 (milestone 3) build 6.2.7989.0 with a full build string of 6.2.7989.0.amd64fre.winmain.110421-1825, apparently from the winmain branch, the branch that typically gets released as a beta, RC, or RTM.
The build version also indicates that it was compiled on April 11, 2011. That is almost two months earlier, which means the development of Windows 8 is now close to the beta phase.
Now, a word of caution, when downloading ANYTHING from the torrents please be careful. There is absolutely no way of knowing if malware comes with it. Check your downloaded files with your AV, but even if that is clean you should still be cautious. We also will not be providing a link to the file here, but it is not hard to find for those interested.
