Today Microsoft released the brand new Windows Home Server 2011 for download to all MSDN and TechNet subscribers. The server OS, which was formerly known as Vail, has previously been available in Beta and then Release Candidate formats. The new WHS 11 is comprised of two separate downloads – an Installation DVD and a Client Restore CD. You will need both for full functionality. As we mentioned when WHS 11 went to RTM (Release to Manufacturer) we should see OEM boxes available in May and probably stand-alone copies for sale from places like New Egg sometime later this month.
