Port Your Own Phone Number Over To Google Voice

If you have wanted to get your wireless phone number ported to Google Voice then we have good news! Google has opened this up now for all users. It does come at a cost of $20, and early termination fees from your (angry) cellular provider will likely apply.
In order to carry this out you just need to log into your Google Voice account, click on Settings => Voice Settings and then choose Change/Port to the right of your phone number.
Now your mobile device can reside in the cloud and you can receive calls from any number you have set up in Voice wherever you are. Google Voice has been one of our favorite apps since the day it was launched so if you haven’t tried it out then now is definitely the time.
