Creating A Blog Post With Windows Live Writer
Written by Alan Monday, 20 December 2010 08:00
Let me preface this whole article by saying that I am actually writing it in Windows Live Writer 2011, I have never used it before, and regardless of the results it will post for all of you to see.
Not long ago I wrote a post about installing and setting up Windows Live Writer. So, if you haven’t read that then you may want to start there.
Let me start by showing the menu bar, which is above where I am typing right now.
Hopefully you can see the picture above without any problems. It was easy to add – I simply clicked the Picture drop-down menu and chose From your computer… and navigated to the file.
Besides Picture in the menu above, you will also find Video and Hyperlink. In addition to those you’ll see a full text editor, spell checker, paragraph and heading formats, save as draft, publish, and even a word count. Below all of those options there’s the ability to select a category (imported from my site during setup), add tags, and even set a date for the posting of this article.
I am curious to see what these screenshots will look like. They are small when I paste them in and I am resizing them, but can’t get any real indication of what that will do.
Above the menu bar are four menu items. The Save one gives the basic save, save as, new, and other options. Home is the one in the first screenshot above. Insert expands on the Picture, Video, Hyperlink options. And, Blog Account gives access to view the site, go to the dashboard, manage comments, and view and change the theme.
This has gone pretty smoothly as far as I can tell. I will be as interested as you to see what it looks like when it posts. I have to say, I like the interface and the options, but I won’t use it again until I see the results online.
