FreeMake Video Converter

A while back I reviewed a video converter called Any Video Converter, which I have been using ever since.
Recently, though, I discovered a new video converter called FreeMake Video Converter. FreeMake is a free program that can convert just about any video format and some audio as well. It’s Windows only, but if you’re on this site then that’s probably not an issue for you.
The drag-and-drop interface is simple and quick. The most popular formats are presets on the main screen. It even allows you to create DVD’s and photo slideshows, upload the YouTube and convert for HDTV, PSP and iPad – all things that Any Video Converter doesn’t allow. Any Video Converter also does not do audio, which is an added bonus included in FreeMake.
It does not rip encrypted DVD’s. You will need to find a separate program to do that. I would recommend AnyDVD, but it’s not free and there are many free ones available. This isn’t a review of those though. We’ll leave that for another post. It also has less control than Any Video Converter, but for many jobs that won’t be an issue. The control I am referring to is such things as fine-tuning the output or editing the video.
I thin that both FreeMake and Any Video Converter can co-exist quite nicely on your PC. I will use FreeMake for most conversions, since most are simple format changes. For jobs that require more user control I will still use Any Video Converter.
