Gmail Account Activity

Ever wonder or suspect that someone may be getting into your Gmail account?  There’s an easy way to check and it’s one the perpetrator can’t cover up.

1. Simply scroll to the bottom of the Gmail page (it doesn’t matter if you’re in your Inbox, Sent, Trash, etc.)

2. You will see “Last Account Activity: X minutes ago at IP XX.XX.XX.XX” (numbers inserted where the X’s are)

3. Click Details at the end of the line and you’ll see a list of recent activity along with how the account was accesses (POP, Browser or IMAP), the location, the IP address and the time.  (In the below example I have blacked out my IP, but yes, I do know it’s not hard for anyone to get it.  But, hey, why make things too simple?)

I would like to note that, although this screen lists “mobile” as an option, my phone shows up as “IMAP”.  So don’t panic right away if something doesn’t look familiar.
