Updating Drivers

Every Windows user has, at some point, been told they need to update the driver for some particular device.  For experienced users this may be a simple task, but for novices it may sound daunting.

1. First you need to find the driver.  The best place to go is the web site of the device manufacturer (Canon, HP, etc).  If you are looking for something more obscure then there are many driver databases on the web so do search.  Once you find the driver then you will need to download it and take note of where the download is stored on your PC.

2. Now click Start => Control Panel => System and Security and on the left choose Device Manager.

3. Now locate your device from the list.  Once you find it the Right Click and choose Update Driver Software.

4. In the pop-up box choose Browse my computer for driver software and then navigate to where you store the new driver.  Once the driver is installed you may be required to reboot your computer.
