Windows Media Center Keyboard Shortcuts

If you use Windows Media Center then knowing some handy keyboard shortcuts is a must.  While the available remote controls and media keyboards are nice to have they can’t do everything you want, so here’s a list of the shortcuts I know of.  The keyboard button(s) are in italics.

Basic

Go back = Backspace

First item = Home

Last item = End

Next page = Page Down

Previous page = Page Up

Move left, right, up, down = Arrow keys

Audio

Mute = F8

Volume down = F9

Volume up = F10

Closed Captioning = Ctrl+Shift+C

Play = Ctrl+Shift+P

Stop = Ctrl+Shift+S

Pause/Resume = Ctrl+P

Rip a CD = Ctrl+R

TV

Guide = Ctrl+G

Record a show = Ctrl+R

Pause and resume = Ctrl+P

Stop = Ctrl+Shift+S

Rewind = Ctrl+Shift+B

Fast forward = Ctrl+Shift+F

Context Menu = Ctrl+D

Next Channel = Page Up

Previous Channel = Page Down

Radio

Pause/Resume = Ctrl+P

Stop = Ctrl+Shift+S

Pictures

Play Slideshow = Ctrl+Shift+P

Stop Slideshow = Ctrl+Shift+P

Pause Slideshow = Ctrl+P

Previous Picture = Up or Left Arrow

Next Picture = Down or Right Arrow

Videos

Play = Ctrl+Shift+P

Pause = Ctrl+P

Stop = Ctrl+Shif+S

Rewind = Ctrl+Shift+B

Fast Forward = Ctrl+Shift+F

Skip Back = Ctrl+B

Skip Forward = Ctrl+F

DVD’s

Play = Ctrl+Shift+P

Pause = Ctrl+P

Stop = Ctrl+Shift_S

Rewind = Ctrl+Shift+B

Fast Forward = Ctrl+Shift+F

Previous Chapter = Ctrl+B

Next Chapter = Ctrl+F

Change Angle = Arrow keys

Audio = Ctrl+Shift+A

Subtitles = Ctrl+U

Menu = Ctrl+Shift+M
