How to “PING” a Computer

If you are trying to set up a network and want to test the connection between two PC’s then the PING command is indispensable.  Here are the easy steps to carry it out.

1. Click Start => Run and type CMD and hit Enter or click OK.

2. Type PING in the window and then hit the Spacebar and type the IP or website address you want to test.  For example, if you want to ping Google, type “www.google.com” after the space.  If you want to ping your router, then type “192.168.0.1″ and hit Enter.  If your connections is successful you should see something similar to the following.

This will not only let you know if you have a connection, but also how solid (based on speed) that connection is.
