Website Review – Ninite

In the first installment of my look at useful websites for the Windows crowd I thought I’d introduce you to a site I’ve used several times recently because of upgrades to Windows 7.
The site is Ninite. You may may not need it often, but when you do it’s a life-saver.

If you are doing an install of Windows and dreading having to reinstall all of your apps then this the answer you’ve been looking for. You simply scroll through their software choices and check what you want and then let it download and install all of them in one shot. The apps are arranged by category – browsers, messaging, media, security, etc. This covers only free apps (with the exception of a trial version of Office). But, that’s a LOT of what I use – Firefox, Skype, Flash and so on. That leaves me with just a couple of CD’s I have to stick in the PC for things like Office.
If you don’t see a program you think you should be included then you can let them know. There’s a link at the bottom of web site where you can submit a suggested program.
Like I said, you may not need this website very often, but it sure is handy when you do need it.
