Wireless Network Printing

One thing that Windows 7 has made extremely easy is printing from any computer on your home network, even wirelessly.  We can set this up in just a couple of minutes.  I have a USB printer plugged into my desktop and I want to print from my laptop while on WiFi from somewhere else in the house.

1. First, on the desktop PC where the printer is connected, click Start and Devices and Printers.  Then right-click on the printer you wish to share, choose the Sharing tab and check the box for Share this printer.  It should have a default share name which you can leave or change to something of your choice.

2. Now on the laptop, let’s begin by clicking Start and Devices and Printers and then choose Add a printer.

3. Now we’ll choose to Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

4. You should now see your printer.  Click on it and choose Next to install it.  That should be all you need to do.  Go ahead and do a test print.
